Safe Monroe is the sole provider of free, confidential, trauma-informed domestic violence and sexual assault services in Monroe County. All Safe Monroe services are provided free of charge regardless of income, age, gender, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or immigration status.

Safe Monroe’s services include a dedicated domestic violence emergency shelter, counseling, support groups, legal advocacy and accompaniment through the court systems, prevention and education programs, and our crucial 24-hour hotline. During the past year alone, our agency served 1,241 adults and children through counseling, advocacy, legal assistance, prevention education, and shelter services. Our emergency shelter provided 7,481 nights of safe housing to 86 survivors, while our staff and trained volunteers responded to 2,548 hotline calls, which is almost a 35% increase over the previous year. We are currently receiving between 10 and 15 new requests for services (shelter, counseling and legal advocacy) each week, illustrating the growing demand for immediate safety services throughout Monroe County.
